E for effort :originally posted June 15th 2009

In todays society we are babied. We are coddled by everyone. Ten years ago i would have been 7 and if i was in a race there was one prize one (and i had asthma and no chance in hell of winning) the kid that won would get it. Today u have a class of 21 there is 1 red ribbon for first place that gets you an ice cream and 20 blue ribbons for everyone else that get's them one piece of candy. Now back to my day when i was seven "Go" and we are off and we run and run i fall way the fuck behind cause i couldn't run the race is over they still encourage us to make it to the finish line my parents look at me and say well it's ok u don't have to win it but u should try harder.
Today's world "Go" and the kids are off and there is now a winner that gets a hot fudge sundae from Mickey D's and the rest of the kids get a snickers bite
now the parents of the kid that actually won is getting showered with praise but wait so are the kids who lost.
Go to the fair lose at a game they will give you something
ten years ago it was well better luck next time wanna buy another ball?

i get the idea of not breaking peoples self esteem to a point but damn it this making the success bar equal for all is bullshit. Sure the winner shouldn't make the other kids feel like shit but the losers shouldn't feel like they've won they need to feel the pain of losing so they can get better.

I didn't get a fucking sticker for missing all my baskets at the fair i was told well practice and come back

now it's oh hey you are 0 for 3 here's a prize for trying cause you didn't even hit the rim. What the hell so now kids today think they are winners, they have this delusion that even though they have failed that they have suceceeded, this is not only bull shit but it's dangerous.

Just another product of my insomnia
